Context

I think we've got the tail wagging the dog here. The only reason this article would be of any interest is the attempt to provide context (or a hook to hang it on) for yet another wacky (liberal?) zero-tolerance policy for ordinary behavior. Kids have been playing all sorts of informal games, including pretending to shoot one another.

What I'd like to know is whether anyone seriously thinks running around the yard shouting pow or falling down (with a melodramatic groan, I'd hope!) is healthy ordinary play or is somehow detrimental to children's development. Who says so, and why?

Also, what is the political context of this? Is it part of a liberal campaign to change the way children are brought up (or educated)? Like a little boy kisses a little girl on the cheek, and then is suspended from school for "sexual harassment"? --Ed Poor Talk 13:49, 18 February 2013 (EST)
