Talk:Confirmation bias

Return to "Confirmation bias" page.

This is an interesting term but I think calling out specific groups as having this trait (i.e. evolutionists and global warming advocates) is unncessary. It is a blank cheque for any group to apply to anyone who disagrees; Young earthers versus old earthers; Evolutionists versus intelligent design; Agnostics versus any diety based religion. This "encylopedia" article serves nothing but to offer a backhanded critizism.

If you don't think evolutionists use confirmation bias, I suggest you look at some of the works of Richard Dawkins and others like him. As for the global warmists, didn't you hear about the scandal from the Climate Research Unit? PatrickP 20:15, 18 May 2010 (EDT)

Where did I say that they do not? I am saying most groups will do so, including evolutionists. There are examples all across the board for any of the groups I mentioned. The page may be better formatted if the initial paragraph was simply an explanation of the term and then sub-sections can be added targeting specific groups.

I have read and re-read the article, and I really can't understand what you object to. Do you feel that such examples should be censored? PatrickP 13:31, 19 May 2010 (EDT)
