Talk:Asylum

May I suggest a different definition?

"In politics, asylum or political asylum means refuge in another country for a person who fears persecution in his own country."

My reasons for proposing this change:

1. Grammar: "refuge" is a noun, as is "asylum". This seems more consistent. 2. Not only controversial people seek asylum, quite ordinary ones do too. 3. It is not always the case that the birth country does not want someone seeking asylum elsewhere. The asylum seeker may fear persecution or worse in their birth country and be attempting to escape.

I look forward to any comments.CharlieJ 18:26, 13 September 2010 (EDT)

I suggest you make the change by adding the other possibilities to what is there, and of course religious asylum is another reason one might seek that. --ṬK/Admin/Talk 18:30, 13 September 2010 (EDT)
