Muslim
No where in the game does it refer to Altair as a Muslim. It is implied that he is an atheist (or at least non religious) when talking to King Richard after he kills Robert de Sable. Richard says something such as "you may not believe in him [God], but he believes in you". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Clintville (talk)
- It "implies". You can't assume that he doesn't believe in God just from what someone says. He could be agnostic.
- And, as for the reference you added in an earlier edit... that was a webforum, which is not considered an encyclopedic reference in most cases. That webforum also directly quotes Wikipedia. - Yes, he could be agnostic, I was not claiming he was an atheist, simply that the game never says he is a Muslim, and that is the closest it comes to talking about his religion. - Desmond Miles's ancestor, Altair, is an hashshashin. Hashshashin is a branch of Shiite Muslim. I believe that suffices as proof that Altair is indeed Muslim (not Orthodox). And congratulations! - Actually, it doesn't. While the Assassins are loosely based on the Hashashin, they are a portrayed fictionally. The group, along with the Templars is still around in the present, and there are no references to religion within them. The Templars in the game are made up entirely of atheists, and the leader of the Hashashin is a Templar (meaning he is also an atheist). --Clintville

- Well, I think the best description of Altair is as a non-practicing Muslim. However, this article was a pop culture stub, and I don't think we need it. I don't know the game well enough to expand it to the point where it's worth keeping. AddisonDM 20:10, 6 August 2009 (EDT)
