A-10 Replacement

"The A-10 is one of the multiple aircraft designs scheduled to be replaced by variants of the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II (Joint Strike Fighter)"

Does anyone else think that's a bad idea? The F-35's a fine aircraft, but a close-support aircraft has to take punches as well as dish them out. We know the A-10 is very survivible in that environment; will the F-35 meet the same standard?--Frey 16:19, 22 October 2008 (EDT)

I don't know anything about the F-35, but I do know that next to Spooky, the Warthog is my JTAC's favorite jet.--IanG 16:44, 22 October 2008 (EDT)
