The steel guitar, and the pedal steel guitar, is a stringed electric musical instrument which is played with the fingers, guitar pick, and fingerpicks. The instrument was originally created for Hawaiian music, and is common in other American folk musics as well, especially Country music, New Mexico music, Rockabilly, Cajun music, and Americana music.
