Spencer James Cox (born July 11, 1975) is an American attorney and politician from Republican Party, he is the current governor of Utah since January 2021. Cox formerly served as lieutenant governor of Utah from 2013 to 2021. He was elected in 2020 and succeeded Governor Gary Herbert.
Like much of the Utah Mormon culture, Gov. Cox is transgender-friendly.[1] In March 2022, Gov. Cox vetoed a bill that prohibited trans athletes from competing in women's sports.[2]
