He has written many controversial films, including ''JFK'', which hypothesized a number of controversies surrounding the assassination of [[John F. Kennedy]]. He also wrote the screenplay for the movie version of the [[Andrew Lloyd Weber]] [[musical]] ''[[Evita]]'', and the film ''Alexander'', based loosely on the life of [[Alexander the Great]]. In 2008, he directed "W", ostensibly a biopic of President George W. Bush, which focused solely on the negative aspects of his life, in effect smearing a sitting president.
