The Fourth of July is the annual celebration of the Independence of the United States from Great Britain.
Everyone whose work is not vital (like such as nurses and police) takes a day or two off work, and people enjoy the summer weather with cookouts, get-togethers, and, at night, displays of fireworks and bonfires. Most towns hold parades, as well as usually sponsoring safe fireworks shows. Some people hold re-enactments of Revolutionary War era events.
The Flag and symbols of it are in evidence everywhere, in this annual outpouring of patriotism.
