Speedrunning is the act of playing a game (or a select part of it) as fast as possible. This is achieved through various methods, such as glitching the game. In order to achieve fast times, players performing speed runs, called speedrunners, often use carefully planned, precise routes that a regular player wouldn't ofter use.

==Categories of Speedrunning==
Speed runs are split into various categories based on the levels of completion in the run and the use of [[Glitches|glitches]] (or lack thereof.)The most common categories are as follows:*'''Any%''' - Fastest Completion. Often involves Sequence Breaking.*'''100%''' - Full completion. Requires the player to complete the game to its fullest, which includes finding all of its items, secrets, and such. The definition of 100% and the specific requirements for it varies depending on the game, and as such, in some cases, it is defined by the game's community.%'''Low%''' - Minimalist Completion. Requires the player to complete the game with the fewest key items and upgrades possible. In a game like [[Super Mario World]], this means no power-ups, no Yoshi, and no Switch Palaces.
