====Springfield====
Perhaps no Jacksonville neighborhood has received more attention from the city government over the past twenty-five years than Springfield. A historic neighborhood, just half a mile north of Downtown, and dating to the mid-19th century, Springfield reached its peak in affluence and influence in the decades just prior to the Jacksonville fire of 1901, Springfield today is a mix in the midst of obvious restoration efforts and rundown homes. Thanks to City-Funded Urban renewal, many of the hundreds of large, beautiful, century-old homes have been freshly painted and refurbished. The city continues to make funding available to willing investors, in the hope of making Springfield a showpiece of the original city.
