Sedevacantism, referring to a "vacant seat," is the belief that there has been no legitimate Pope since the mid- to early 20th century due to a betrayal of traditional dogma. Most Catholics are unaware of this belief, and many would reject it. However, Sedevacantism has become increasingly relevant due to the Modernism of Pope Francis.

Today, the online conservative Catholic community is largely divided between Sedevacantist media groups like Novus Ordo Watch and conservative Catholic media that denounces Sedevacantism,[1] like Church Militant.
