Seasons in the Sun
Seasons in the Sun is an English-language adaptation of "Le Moribund". It was a 1974 hit for Canadian singer Terry Jacks, his only successful hit in the United States.
In the adaptation, a singer is nearing death in the springtime and is bidding farewell to people he knows. In the Jacks version the persons are 1) a childhood friend with whom he had many adventures, 2) his father (admitting that he was "the black sheep of the family"), and 3) "Michelle, my little one" (presumed to be his daughter; she would cheer him up whenever he was depressed). (The original song had the persons as 1) a friend named "Emile", 2) a priest, 3) a man named Antoine, and finally 4) the singer's wife, who had numerous affairs with Antoine.)
The song is unique in that it has routinely made lists of the worst songs ever written (due to its sentimentalism) but also is one of the very few singles to have sold over 10 million copies.
