Scottish Highlands

The Scottish Highlands are a geographical, cultural and historical region of Scotland. Generally agreed to comprise two upland areas, the Grampian Mountains and the Northwest Highlands, the region consists of the area of the British mainland north and west of the Highland Boundary Fault; the Hebrides archipelago may (wholly or partially) be classed as part of the Scottish Highlands too although, together with Orkney and Shetland, they are most often grouped together as Highland and Islands.

It lends its name to The Highland Council, which covers a large area of the region.
