Rock band breakups are as commonplace as rainy days, to the enormous disappointment of fans.
The Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Buffalo Springfield, The Monkees, and even the Everly Brothers who were, after all, brothers who should have respected each other.
Rolling Stones article that lists the top 50 (!!) band breakups, and explains why for each of them.[1] Some reunited for tours, but many did not.
Many of the reasons for the breakups seem, in retrospect, petty and insignificant. Yet for decades or forever band members would refuse to reunite as desired by fans.

- Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young, which broke up in July 1970 despite being one of the finest bands in the world.
