Rival good

A rival good is one that can be used by only one person at a time, such as a lunch.[1]

A rival good can be loaned or shared, but has inherent limits on the amount of sharing possible. Sharing takes away from the use by the owner.

A rival good is to be distinguished from a nonrival good.
