pyrite–fools gold
Pyrite (better known as fool's gold) is the mineral iron disulfide, (FeS2) which due to its metallic luster and brass-yellow hue, is often mistaken for gold. It can be distinguished from real gold by its crystalline structure and, when handled, sulfuric smell. Occasionally, small quantities of gold can be found in pyrite deposits.
