Possum Trot is a small unincorporated community in Deep East Texas. It is a predominantly Black community.
The community's only church, Bennett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, made headlines when 22 of its families agreed to adopt 77 of the hardest-to-place children within the Texas foster care system. Their story will be featured in a 2024 movie by Angel Studios titled Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot.
