Phil Bredesen (born 1943) is the 48th Governor of Tennessee, having taken office in 2003. A Democrat, he was reelected in the nationally Democratic year of 2006 He won all ninety-five Tennessee counties. Bredesen had served as mayor of Nashville from 1991 to 1999. [1]
