Nottinghamshire County Council

Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) is the upper-tier local authority responsible for the council area Nottinghamshire, which was established in 1974 and, since 1994, has made up a part of the East Midlands of England. As its name suggests, it covers a similar area to the county Nottinghamshire from which it takes its name. Indeed, around 70% of Nottinghamshire's population live under NCC. However, some parts of that historic county are also under City of Doncaster Council, Lincolnshire County Council and Nottingham City Council.

The non-metropolitan council area is divided into seven administrative districts: Bassetlaw, Mansfield, Newark and Sherwood, Ashfield, Gedling, Broxtowe and Rushcliffe, each of which have lower-tier district councils.
