Necrosis is the uncontrolled death of one or more cells due to external injury or insult. Necrosis is distinct from apoptosis in that the latter is the controlled suicide of a cell due to internal pathways. A number of infections, toxins, venoms, and injuries of various and sundry nature lead to necrosis. Like all death no known natural cause can reverse the process.[1]
