Naza: The Real Story
Naza: The Real Story is a 2026 Israeli documentary film created as a direct counter-project to the propaganda NAZA (ironically especially on highly self-criticism Israel,[1] directed by Hamas' Euro-Med's linked since 2019[2] Yuval Abraham exposed as a distorting, lying, already in his 2020 work[3] and Rachel Szor. Their liberal Israelophobic The Guardian financed film has been totally debunked.[4][5][6][7]) Directed and produced by Ariel Orbuch (Averbuch), Roy Danino, and Hagai Gutman, the 49-minute film features firsthand testimonies from senior Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reserve commanders and intelligence officers to dispute allegations of systemic military misconduct in Gaza.
The film relies on visual evidence, combat recordings, and frontline accounts to shape an alternative narrative centered on battlefield realities and the tactics of Hamas.
Synopsis
Filmed at night on Tel Aviv rooftops—mimicking the aesthetic style of the original NAZA propaganda —the film presents interviews with active-duty and reserve IDF officers whose faces are hidden to protect their operational security. The documentary focuses heavily on three primary military and security issues:
- Systematic Exploitation of Civilians: Officers share accounts and visual documentation of Hamas combatants operating in plain, civilian clothing and establishing infrastructure, such as tunnel shafts, directly within residential homes and children's rooms.
- Humanitarian Aid Interception: The film features testimony alleging that armed Hamas operatives regularly hijack and take control of humanitarian aid truck convoys entering the Gaza Strip.
- Operational Restrictions: Interviewees discuss the strict legal oversight and rules of engagement guiding IDF operations, showcasing declassified recordings of strikes that were aborted due to the sudden proximity of civilians.
Production and Funding
The project was entirely conceived, executed, and self-funded out of pocket by three private Israeli citizens:
- Roi Danino: An entrepreneur, author, and IDF reserve lieutenant colonel.
- Ariel Orbuch (Averbuch): An attorney, public speaker, and IDF reserve major.
- Hagai Gutman: A filmmaker, content creator, and editor.
The creators have explicitly reminded that they received no institutional funding or production assistance from the Israeli government or the military, noting that neither entity was aware of the project until it was fully completed.
Reception and Impact
Following its release with English subtitles, the documentary was widely shared online to challenge the international narrative surrounding the Gaza conflict.
By Oct 14, 2026 it received well over 44 million views.
While independent in its production, the project received significant backing from state and public diplomacy bodies. The Israeli Embassy in the United States actively promoted the film on social media platforms. Furthermore, the filmmakers were officially recognized by Israel's National Public Diplomacy Directorate, receiving certificates of appreciation from director Tzipi Hotovely for their contributions to defending the state and the morality of IDF troops against global criticism.
