Money in the Bank is a pay-per-view event produced by World Wrestling Entertainment. It originated as a ladder match with a briefcase suspended above the ring. Usually consisting of several participants, whoever climbs up the ladder and grabs the briefcase gets a WWE World Championship title match anytime they want for the next year. In most cases, whoever wins the ladder match has a successful "cash-in" of the briefcase, and has won either the WWE Championship or the World Heavyweight Champion. Someone has yet to cash in on the WWE Universal Champion.
