Mary Glindon
Mary Glindon (b. 1957 in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland) is a UK politician who has served as the Labour Party Member of Parliament for Newcastle upon Tyne East and Wallsend since 2024. She served as the MP for the now-defunct constituency North Tyneside from 2010 to 2024. Mary Glindon is Catholic and a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Pro-Life Group.[1]

Mary Glindon is a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Pro-Life Group, which is a discussion forum for pro-life issues in the UK Parliament. Other members of the group include DUP MP Carla Lockhart.[1] Glindon has largely abstained from votes on abortion, voting 7 times with the pro-life lobby. However, she voted in favour of buffer zones around abortion clinics, which are widely seen as anti-free speech.[2] In 2022, in response to the introduction of a 'right' to abortion in the UK, Glindon was one of numerous MPs who spoke out against such a thing, expressing concern that such a thing would lead to abortion up-to-birth and of the negative impact on mental health of abortion regret.[3]
In 2013, Glindon is said to have "voted against allowing same sex couples to marry"; in other words, she voted in favour of traditional marriage.[4]
