Lisa P. Jackson

Lisa P. Jackson (born 1962) was appointed by the Obama Administration in 2009 to head the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). She is the first African American to head the agency.

A chemical engineer with a master's degree from Princeton University, she has been a long-time bureaucrat at the EPA in Washington and as head of New Jersey's environmental agency.

Jackson is a loyal Democrat but is not known for political activism.
