Joseph Khalil Aoun (born 10 January 1964) is a Lebanese politician and general who became the 14th president of Lebanon on 9 January 2025. Aoun is first Christian president for Lebanon who was chosen against will of Hizbollah since 1990. He was appointed as the 14th Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces in 2017. Hizbollah and their allies tried to block appointing new Christian president of Lebanon for over two years after 2022 election, Joseph Aoun chosen as new president after humiliation of Hizbollah in their war against Israel.
