Born in Havana, Cuba, Capablanca was a chess prodigy as a child and reigned as the world champion from 1921 to 1927. From 1916 until 1924, Capablanca was not lose a single chess game in any tournament.[1]
His endgame play was legendary, and he was extraordinarily quick in assessing positions and finding the optimal moves, almost like a computer. He authored a classic book on chess entitled Chess Fundamentals, which some consider to the finest book about the game ever written.
