José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero (born August 4, 1960) was the Prime Minister of Spain from April 17, 2004, until December 21, 2011. His Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (Spanish acronym PSOE) won a majority in the 2004 general election in the aftermath of the Madrid terrorist bombings and a desire of the voters for change.
