Johnstown is a historically significant city in Western Pennsylvania, 57 miles east of Pittsburgh. Having roughly 18,000 residents, Johnstown is the largest city in Cambria County.

Donald Trump carried Cambria County by a margin of 68-31% over Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.

The Johnstown Flood occurred on Friday, May 31, 1889, when the South Fork Dam failed on the south fork of the Little Conemaugh River, 14 miles upstream of Johnstown. Days of very heavy rainfall preceded the breakage of this Dam, which created a flood rate comparable to the enormous Mississippi River. This flood killed 2,208 people, in the largest U.S. flooding disaster in the 19th century and the worst ever to strike Pennsylvania. This flood also destroyed 1,600 homes.

Catastrophic flooding occurred in Johnstown in 1894, 1907, 1924, 1936, and 1977.
