John Edward Gerard Matze Jr. is an American computer scientist, and iOS developer. Matze is most notably known for the creation of Parler, a right-wing social media platform. Before the creation of Parler in 2018, Matze worked for Amazon Web Services and multiple other companies near Las Vegas, Nevada.

Matze founded Parler in August, 2018. At the initial startup of the network, it was practically unusable due to many bugs in the programmed code. In 2019, Matze said that there was around 100,000 users on Parler; this number more than doubled when nearly 200,000 Twitter-Banned Saudi Arabians joined the platform. In the summer of 2020, the users on Parler surged, as prominent individuals joined the platform including: Dan Bongino, Brad Parscale, Kayleigh McEnany, Rudy Guiliani, Matt Gaetz, Donald Trump Jr., Sebastian Gorka, Mark Dice, and David Icke.
