Iraqi troop withdrawal

Iraqi troop withdrawal has been a hot political issue for the United States almost from the moment allied troops invaded the country. The two main ideas have been:

  • unconditional withdrawal on a set timetable, or else
  • withdrawal based on conditions on the ground

Democrats favor unconditional withdrawal.[1] Republicans say it would be better for Iraq to take into account actual conditions in Iraq.[Citation Needed]
