In America is a song written and sung by The Charlie Daniels Band.
Released in May 1980, the singer talks about how "the eagle's been flying slow, and the flag's been flying low, and a lot of people think that America's fixing to fall". At that time America had been through the Watergate scandal, the simultaneous triple-digit unemployment, inflation, and interest rates, and the Iran Hostage Crisis. However, the singer believed that the American people would come together and overcome.
