Henry Francis Lyte

Henry Francis Lyte (1793 – 1847), Scottish hymn writer and Anglican clergyman,was educated in Dublin, ordained in 1815, and served in Devon. He died in Nice, France.
He published three volumes of verse but is best remembered for writing the words of the hymn "Abide with me" to the tune ;“Eventide” by William Henry Monk.
