In Harper v. Poway Unified Sch. Dist., 445 F.3d 1166 (9th Cir. 2006), the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit affirmed a ban by a public school of a T-shirt that cited the Christian condemnation of homosexuality. This ruling was contrary to many decisions siding with free speech in public school on other issues.
