Harden not your hearts

Harden not your hearts is an expression often used in the King James Bible[1] and some other translations to describe how atheists internally shut off any open-minded consideration of Christianity. The KJV references "harden" 48 times; the ESV references it 41 times; and the NIV references it 34 times. Ironically, the ESV and NIV reference "harden" more times (total of 11 each, but 1 reference differs) in the New Testament than the KJV does (9 times).
A better translation of this phrase today for liberals indoctrinated by higher education is "close not your minds," which fits the Greek terms:
- σκληρύνητε, which means harden (figuratively) or make stubborn; and[2]
- καρδίας (kardias), which means heart (emotional source) or mind.[3]
