Ferndale is a suburb of Detroit, located in Oakland County. The population size is 19,900 per the 2010 United States Census.
Ferndale has recently gained a reputation for being a city of gay "pride", having elected two different homosexual mayors and for being the most "LGBT-friendly" city in Michigan.
David Coulter is the current openly homosexual mayor of Ferndale and a member of the Democrat Party.
