Fairview, Texas

Not to be confused with New Fairview, Texas, a rural community north of Fort Worth.

Fairview is a city in Texas, a suburb of Dallas.

As of 2025, the city leadership has been in a protracted battle with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints over LDS' plans to build a temple (the third in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex), due to the proposed height. Originally, the plan was for the temple to have a height of 174 feet, by far the tallest building in the city, and far in excess of the 35-foot limitation on buildings located on property zoned for residential construction. The city and LDS negotiated a non-binding compromise in November 2024, whereby the building would only be 120 feet tall (and also smaller in square footage than originally proposed); however, LDS never filed the agreed-to revised plan, claiming that the city never intended to honor the agreement, and filed suit in January 2025, claiming the city to be in violation of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
