Ex Post Facto Clause

The United States Constitution, Article 1, section 9, prohibits the Legislature of the United States from passing any ex post facto law. In section 10, the United States Constitution lays several restrictions on the authority of the Legislatures of the several states; and, among them, "that no state shall pass any ex post facto law."
