Escape (The Piña Colada Song) is a popular song by Rupert Holmes, the pseudonym for David Goldstein, a British-born American singer. The song would not only hit #1 in 1979, but would become the last #1 hit of the 1970's decade.

The song is a humorous take on relationships: a man, tired of the boredom in his current relationship, reads the personal ads in a newspaper and spots an ad which peaks his interest. Notably, the woman who took out the ad states that her future lover must, among other things, enjoy piña coladas (thus the song's name). The man responds back and suggests they meet at a local bar: when they do, he discovers that the woman is actually his current love. They both realize that, had they actually communicated, this unusual meeting would not have taken place.
