Drang nach Osten für Lebensraum (Drive to the East for Living space) is a term used to describe the Nazi ideology of violent expansion and subjugation of Eastern Europe under the guise of creating Lebensraum for the German people. The realization of this ideology led to the expulsion and murder of millions of people in Eastern Europe, especially Jews and Slavs, in the context of the Holocaust and other crimes of the National Socialists.
This term refers to the territory the National Socialists deemed necessary for the expansion and survival of the Aryan race.
