Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization
597 U.S. ___ , No. 19-1392
Decided: June 24, 2022

Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was a United States Supreme Court decision released on June 24, 2022 that overruled Roe v. Wade, and is the Decision of the Century. This decision also overturned Planned Parenthood v. Casey.

The vote was twofold: one part of the decision was 6–3 with Chief Justice Roberts and Justices Alito, Thomas, Barrett, Kavanaugh, and Gorsuch voting to uphold the Mississippi law under challenge (which prohibited most abortions after 15 weeks from conception) and Justices Sotomayor, Kagan and Breyer in opposition. In a separate 5–4 vote, the same Justices (with the exception of Chief Justice Roberts) chose to overturn Roe in its entirety.

Justice Alito wrote the majority opinion joined by the other four Justices who voted to overturn Roe (Justices Thomas and Kavanaugh also wrote separate concurring opinions), while Chief Justice Roberts wrote a separate opinion which concurred in the judgment to uphold the Mississippi law but not to overturn Roe, and the three dissenting Justices co-authored their dissenting opinion.

Contrary to the lamestream media, the vote did not prohibit abortion nationwide, but simply returned the matter to the states.

Dobbs was the biggest victory for the pro-life and conservative legal movements in over 50 years.
