Dialer

A Dialer is a malicious program which does not aim to damage its host. Rather, it dials out without request to waste minutes and/or bandwidth. This kind of malware was originally used when computers used Dial-Up networking. Since high-speed connections are the norm now, this kind of attack is somewhat obsolete. However, it is not entirely gone, since some cellular phones have plans with limited minutes. Dialers are now relegated primarily to these cellular phones. Much like their predecessors, these programs will try to waste minutes of cellular service.[1]
