D. Richard Hipp is a software developer and the primary author of SQLite.[1]
Life and career
Hipp earned a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1984. He went on to earn a PhD in Computer Science from Duke University in 1992.
Hipp lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with his wife, Ginger.[2]

SQLite is the most deployed database in the world. It is part of nearly every modern smartphone. It is a self-contained, serverless, zero-configuration, transactional SQL database engine. Its code has been released into the public domain. Its developers plan to support the project through the year 2050. [4]
Christian Advocacy
Hipp is a well known Christian, a rarity in the technology world. In 2018, Christian Headlines described Hipp's institution of the St. Benedict Rule as a community standard at SQLite, which states: "“First of all, love the Lord God with your whole heart, your whole soul, and your whole strength. Then, love your neighbor as yourself. Do not murder. Do not commit adultery. Do not steal." [5]
