Club Penguin

Club Penguin is a children’s MMORPG made by RocketSnail Games in 2005.

The game first started development in 2000. The creator, Lance Priebe got the idea from a comic featuring penguins. As time went by, the game’s concept changed heavily and was eventually acquired by the Liberal Walt Disney Company.

When Disney acquired it, they changed the game heavily. And as time went by, the game became more liberal in values, and became more pro-gay. But however, many elements remained unchanged.

You are put into a snowy virtual world where you can do a lot of Minigames and other stuff. There was a currency, coins which you earned from Minigames, you could spend them on items. You could enchance your gameplay with overpriced membership, and many things were locked behind a paywall.

You could adopt pets named Puffles. You had to take care of them, and if you didn’t they would be sent back to the Wild. You could also customize your igloo with a variety of furniture.

There were also Parties held every month. Some parties include, the holiday and Halloween party. Some others include takeovers and Puffle parties.

The game has shutdown ever since March 30th, 2017, but it’s legacy lives on. Many people have created private servers to make the game live on. The most popular one was Club Penguin Rewritten.

But however, some private servers were unsafe like Club Penguin Online. Pedophiles were using private servers to coerce children into sending nude pictures for adminship. Club Penguin Online shut down on May 15th, 2020 due to controversy surrounding the game. This led to Disney sending DMCAs to most of the CPPSes. However, the game still lives on.
