Ciudad del Carmen

Ciudad del Carmen is a city in the south west of the state of Campeche, Mexico. Ciudad del Carmen is located on the south west of Carmen Island, which stands in front of the "Laguna de Términos", on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico.

Ciudad del Carmen is well known because of the oil exploitation activities in the Bank of Campeche, for the large amounts of petroleum that is near the island, off the coast. Carmen has excellent port facilities that handle an important amount of Mexico's total petroleum exports. Apparently bridges on either end of the Carmen Island connect the island with the mainland. Fishing and shrimping are also important activities.

The university of Ciudad del Carmen is Universidad Autónoma del Carmen.
