Charles Anthony Owen, known as Chuck Owen (born March 12, 1963), is the Republican state representative for District 30 in Beauregard and Vernon parishes in western Louisiana. He will succeed the term-limited Democrat James Armes, III, on January 13, 2020.

Owen graduated in 1981 from Leesville High School in his native Leesville in Vernon Parish. A veteran of the United States Air Force, Owen and his family moved back to Leesville in 2014, where he is a defense contractor and a senior training and intelligence consultant to the military. He is also an adjunct professor at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana, and Air University, a creation of the Air Force. His wife, Carolyn (born 1967), is a special education teacher in Vernon Parish.[1] [2]

To win his legislative seat, Owen defeated another Republican in a runoff contest held on November 16, 2019. With 4,485 votes (53 percent), Owen topped A. C. "Chuck" Dowden, Jr., who polled 3,920 (47 percent).[3]

In the campaign Owen vowed if elected to work tirelessly to reduce regulations, enact tax cuts, and remove barriers to business growth. He also called for the expansion of technical training at the high school and community college levels.[2]
