Christianity in Iran has recently undergone epochal changes. With the death of Mahsa Amini and an increasing number of Muslim women rightly demanding freedom from abject slavery and being forced to wear the Burqa, we also see one of the fastest growing Churches on the Planet in the Iranian Church.
Population of Christians in Iran
Open Doors estimates a Population of 1,245,000 Christians and growing in 2024, which would be about 1.5% of Iran's 80 MN+ Population. "With such an environment, it would seem surprising to hear that in the past decade Iran has been one of the fastest-growing churches in the world. Some estimates point to a million or more Iranian converts to Christianity. Neighboring Afghanistan rivals Iran as the fastest-growing church–influenced by Iranian Christians whose similar language and cultural connections have built bridges for the spread of the gospel." Who is most vulnerable to persecution?
"Converts from Islam experience the greatest risk of persecution. Government control is highest in urban areas, while rural areas are less monitored. However, there are fewer chances for believers to meet outside of urban areas."[2]
