The Celtic Church is one name for the Christian church in the British Isles before the Catholic mission of St. Augustine of Canterbury arrived from Rome in A.D. 596-597.

The Celtic Church was founded in either the first or second centuries A.D. One early evangelistic work was that of missionaries from Gaul and Rome who worked among the poor. By A.D. 314, the church was strong enough to send delegates to the Synod of Arles.
