Category talk:Writers

I propose merging this with Category:Authors, keeping Authors as the main category. In light of that I'm putting a category redirect (interestingly, this is the exact example given in category redirect template!) -Foxtrot 19:54, 21 October 2008 (EDT)

Joaquín, your user talk page is locked, so I'll have to post here. Hopefully you'll see it. I was wondering why you removed the category redirect. We shouldn't have the writers/authors articles split between two categories, so having the category redirect indicates which one we prefer and encourages editors to use the prefered one. If you prefer this category over Authors, that's fine, but we should decide on one. -Foxtrot 21:15, 24 October 2008 (EDT)

I don't like the idea of deleting Category:Writers. The word "writer" connotes something which is slightly different from "author". Also, a writer might be a poet, a journalist, an advertising copywriter, a screenplay writer. If two men collaborate on writing a song, and one does the music while the other supplies the lyrics, author doesn't seem to fit. --Ed Poor ^Talk 12:54, 16 August 2010 (EDT)
