Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz (b. in Spain, May 5, 2003) has 5 Grand Slam titles by the age of 22, winning the French Open in a final match considered by some to have been the greatest ever in that tournament. The five-set contest lasted 5 hours and 29 minutes and was the longest ever in a French Open finals. Alcaraz saved three consecutive championship points to pull out a come-from-behind victory over the Italian Jannik Sinner, then the #1 ranked player in the world.

Alcaraz was born, raised, and continues to reside and train in Spain.

In a stellar example of sportsmanship, Alcaraz gave back a point awarded to him in a close match in the 2025 French Open, because the racket had left his hand when it contacted the ball to win the point. As reported by the Associated Press:

Initially, the second-seeded Alcaraz was awarded the point. But he immediately went over to the chair umpire to admit that he wasn't holding his racket when it touched the ball. That's not allowed .... When the official informed the Court Philippe-Chatrier crowd what had happened, Alcaraz was given a round of applause.
